The name represents world-class products and a true global brand. My current position of Manager, Global Web Strategy - Forum.Nokia.com, is a welcomed challenge and an opportunity to grow professionally once again. I am responsible for developing comprehensive web strategies that support global iniatives. The position demands a mastery of e-business, web design, and information architecture. A fundamental understanding of emerging web trends such as the Semantic Web is required. More than anything, this position demands extraordinary interpersonal communication ability. Working with global teams on multiple continents mandates this along with strong rapport building ability, negotiation skills, project management, and a certain degree of “humble enthusiasm”. I am NOT currently seeking employment. This information is placed here for informational purposes only.
From early 2001 to late 2002, I was a Creative Director at Verizon (e-Business group). My team of 30+ Web Creative's (Information Architects, Content Writers, Designers, Developers) have done some really cool work. Perhaps some of our best work are the Flash Promotional Tour movies we created for Verizon.com.
In early 2002, my team was asked to produce a broadcast quality presentation that would be used to support the launch of a significant CRM initiative. We had 7 days to go from rough concept to final product. I worked over 140 hours leading the effort to visualize, videotape, edit, composite, and output - the net result was a very powerful promotional piece.
The eWeb Intranet was one of my first projects at Verizon. My team was responsible for the design and implementation of this corporate wide Intranet. The largest challenge to the success of this project was achieving and maintaining alignment with the numerous lines-of-business. The majority of my time was focused on maintaining this relationship.
In early 2002, a deal was inked between 7-Eleven and Verizon to offer selected capabilities of Verizon.com on the kiosks residing in 1000's of 7-Eleven stores. It was immediately clear to me how strategic this project would be, for it was the first extension of verizon.com capabilities beyond the web. This project has been a huge success thus far from an User Experience and Design perspective. The team has truly knocked this project out of the ballpark.
"The shoemakers children have the worst shoes." My virtual art gallery site, Retinaburn.com, needed a serious refresh. Accomplishing this task with my work schedule was a challenge, but the site deserved the attention. I refreshed the home page and completely redesigned the gallery. The refreshed site was re launched in the summer of 2002.
On Friday, May 11, 2001, the world mourned the untimely passing of Douglas Adams, beloved creator of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, dead of a heart attack at age forty-nine. Douglas Adams was one my favorite authors. In early 2002, I was contacted by Joel Greengrass, a Viant Alumni, about a film project based on Adams life. The film, "Life, The Universe, and Douglas Adams" was released in May of 2002. He was curious about working with me on a cd rom version of the film he was producing - I told him to sign me up. The cd rom is in production now.
